Antonio Frascerra Sax

Graduated at the “Tito Schipa” Conservatory in Lecce under the guidance of Maestro Luigi Fazi, he earned a Master’s Degree in Composition and Interpretation, a solo training program, with top honors.

He earned a Master’s Degree in Saxophone Teaching, with top honors, from the “Umberto Giordano” Conservatory in Foggia, subsequently qualifying to teach it in secondary schools.

Heearned a Master’s Degree in Musical Disciplines, a chamber music program, with top honors.

He keeps on improving his skills participating in various masterclasses both in Italy and abroadwith internationally renowned teachers such as Maestro Juan Manuel Jimenez Alba, Maestro Eric Devallon, Maestro Alfonso Padilla, Mario Marzi, and Jerom Làran.

From 2004 to 2008, he was a member of the “Arturo Toscanini” Ensemble, which he performed in various events and concerts with throughout Puglia and beyond. He recorded an audio CD with the same ensemble, “Un Palco all’opera,” published by NCR (New Classic Records).

With thr same ensemble, he won several awards in national and international competitions, including: First Prize at the 6th “Rocco Rodio” European Performance Competition, Castellana Grotte; First Prize at the 6th “Danilo Cipolla” National Competition, Cetraro (Cosenza).

He collaborated with the Wind Orchestra of the “Tito Schipa” Conservatory of Lecce from 2004 to 2012 as a tenor saxophonist, performing at various cultural events.

With the same Orchestra he recorded an Audio CD “Magia dei Luoghi” Edizioni Musicali Wicky with music by Maestro Nunzio Ortolano and conducted for the occasion by the Director of Finance Maestro Leonardo Laserra Ingrosso.

With the same ensemble, he has performed in various venues and musical theaters both in Italyand abroad. Of particular note was the “Magia dei Luoghi” tour, in which he performed in France (Venasque – Esplanade de Tours, Chateauneuf-du-Pape) and in Italy, performing a piece for solo saxophone quartet and symphonic band, “Cantos Cerimoniales” by Angelo Sormani.

Since 2012, he has been a regular member of the Jonico Salentina Wind Orchestra as First Tenor Saxophone, conducted on several occasions by Leonardo Laserra Ingrosso, Maestro of the Financial Police Band.

He has collaborated with the “Ico Tito Schipa” Provincial Orchestra of Lecce, performing in several concerts as tenor saxophone in Ravel’s Bolero conductedby Maestro Panni, as alto saxophone in Mussorgsky’s Pictures atan Exhibition conducted by Maestro Massimo Quarta, and astenor saxophone in An American in Paris conducted by Maestro Panni.

He has collaborated with the National Orchestra of the Conservatories, performing as alto saxophone in Mussorgsky’sPictures at an Exhibition conducted by Maestro Xu Zhung at the Teatro Verdi in Brindisi, and as principal alto saxophone in the “Nanni Moretti” concert conducted by Maestro Piersanti, with Nanni Moretti narrating in Bologna at the Teatro Arena del Sole.

As a soloist, he has also collaborated on the recording of the audio CD “Io Semplicemente… Emanuele” (Musical Editions MK Music Production).

He has collaborated with the “Salento Sax Ensemble,” performing at various festivals and cultural events in Puglia. With the ensemble, he recorded the CD “Sfumature Musicali” as a solo saxophone player.

He has won 16 national and international competitions, appearing both as a soloist and in a chamber ensembles. He won the “Claudio Ceschini” Special Prize for Best Saxophonist, at the 23rd “Città di Barletta” International Competition for Young Musicians.

In 2016, he published the book “Educating to Music…Educating with Music” with Book Sprint Edizioni, and in 2017 he published “Instrumental Formation and Musical Instinct.”

In 2019, he published a transcription for Saxophone Trio of Haydn’s “LondonTrio in C Major,” published by Edizioni Musicali “Momenti.”

He taught saxophone at the “Giannelli” Music High School in Casarano (LE) and the “G. Palmieri” Conservatory in Lecce.

He taught saxophone at the “Tito Schipa” Conservatory in Lecce – Ceglie Messapica branch.

He is currently a tenured saxophoneteacher at the “De Giorgi” Comprehensive Institute in Lizzanello – Merine.
